1. Beyond "Roughly Correct"

The essence of BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) is fundamentally "Astronomical Timekeeping". Ancient observers mapped celestial coordinates into the symbols of Stems and Branches. If the input coordinates (Time) are incorrect, the subsequent structural analysis, energy strength assessment, and destiny projection are nothing but elaborate castles in the air.

                Core Concept:
                Your watch time (Standard Time) is NOT your true birth time.
Destiny calculation demands "True Solar Time".
            

This is not pedantry. In BaZi, the boundary between hours (e.g., 8:59 vs 9:01) determines whether your Hour Pillar is "Dragon" or "Snake". This single character difference can shift your entire chart structure from a "Food God Structure" (Intellect) to a "Wealth Structure" (Commerce), completely reversing your favorable elements.

2. Variables for Time Calibration

To restore "True Solar Time", we must apply physical corrections to the "Mean Solar Time" displayed on our watches.

In Taiwan, watch time is standardized to 120°E (GMT+8). The Earth rotates 1 degree every 4 minutes.

3. The Invisible Assassin: Daylight Saving Time (DST)

⚠ Fatal Error If born during DST, a birth certificate stating 12:30 (Horse Hour) is actually 11:30 (Horse Hour), or potentially shifting back into the Snake Hour.

Absolute Date Change

Mainstream Japanese schools (such as the Abe Taizan lineage) adopt a scientific definition, aligning the "Day" change with the civil calendar:

23:00 ~ 23:59 (Late Rat): Hour pillar is Rat, but the Day pillar remains current day.
00:00 ~ 01:00 (Early Rat): Hour pillar is Rat, Day pillar shifts to next day.

5. Solar Terms: The True Boundaries

                In BaZi, the "Month" does not change on the Lunar 1st.
It changes strictly at the "Solar Term" (Jieqi).
            

For example:

Lichun (Spring Awakening): Start of Tiger Month (Wood). The zodiac year changes here.
Jingzhe (Awakening of Insects): Start of Rabbit Month (Wood).
Qingming (Pure Brightness): Start of Dragon Month (Earth).

Precision down to the minute is required. If born at 13:15 on the day of Lichun, but the solar term transition occurs at 13:18, you still belong to the Ox Month of the previous year, not the new Tiger Month. Your Year and Month pillars will be entirely different.
